Our research is aimed at unraveling the molecular mechanisms that guide the evolution and determine the function of complex biological systems. We focus on signaling networks, combining the study of natural networks with the design and directed evolution of synthetic networks. We use this integrative approach to:

  • 1. Understand how signaling networks evolve

    2. Decode the links between signaling network malfunction and disease

    3. Develop evolutionary strategies to engineer signaling networks for biotechnological,environmental or therapeutic applications
